The Cut and Paste Journal Disclaimer
This journal exists to serve me and no one else. While I am pleased that others may find it interesting and/or entertaining, it doesn't exist solely for that purpose. This is my personal journal. The fact that it is in the public domain does not mean that it is still not my personal property.
Some things I write, you may not like, you may not want to read. You know what? Too fucking bad. You don't like what I write in here, then don't come back. Erase your bookmark, drop me from your Friends list. Simple as that. No one is forcing you to read my journal, so don't whine.
I shall write in it whatever I want, when I want, and how often I want. I shall write as much as I want or as little as I want. I shall be as detailed as I want or as vague as I want. I may only post quizzes, surveys, pictures, or links to articles, and write nothing about me, or I may write the most intimate details about my life. I may always whine about my life, or I might tell you nothing but the positive. What I choose to write is my decision alone. You don't like it, too fucking bad. No one is forcing you to read my journal.
I am the one financing this journal, whether it is through the money I spend on my Internet connection, the money I spend on purchasing an account and/or the time I spend writing. If I ever accept payment from you to finance this journal, then you may have a say in what I publish. Otherwise, sit down and shut up. You don't like it, too fucking bad. No one is forcing you to read my journal.
It's my decision to decide who I allow to comment on my journal. It's my decision to decide if I even want people to comment in my journal. Commenting is a privilege that I extend to you and not your God-given right. And if you don't like it, too fucking bad. No one is forcing you to read my journal.
I'm repeating myself a lot with the "You don't like it..." line, aren't I? Unfortunately some people appear to be so dense that maybe, just maybe if I repeat it enough, they might start getting the idea.
It's my decision if I want to make all of my entries protected or even private. It's my decision if I want to filter you out of reading certain entries. It's my decision to add you to my Friends list; it's also my decision to drop you from my Friends list. Just because you added/dropped me doesn't mean I must automatically add or drop you. I decide who I want on my Friends list, not you. You don't like it, too fucking bad. No one is forcing you to read my journal.
You have no right to harass me about what I write in my journal. Absolutely none. You are not to harass me about what I write in my comments, via AIM, or via e-mail. I am allowed the same freedom of speech that everyone else has. I do not harass you about the content of yours, though I may not always agree with it. Therefore, I request the same respect be accorded to me with mine. If you don't like something I write, maybe we can debate it like adults, or maybe it won't be open for discussion...but I refuse to be harassed for it. We don't have to like each other as people, we don't have to agree with what the other is saying, but we should respect each other's right to free speech...including the downside that with freedom of speech comes the chance that you might see or hear or read something you don't like.
And if you don't like this disclaimer? You know what? Too fucking bad. No one is forcing you to like it.
