My laptop thinks its new. And it thinks about it a lot. It is running a bit slow. But the color glitch is gone. I now have Windows Help and Support, and I am able to create and manipulate networks, in fact I am coming to you over the wireless. Ii always wanted to say that, but was born too late.
All I have to do is load my software. I got a firewall set up, and anti-virus running constantly. Doc was convinced there was some sort of slow moving malware on the laptop before the wipe, so whatever that was is now gone. We'll see how it goes with the loading of the software.
Then there will be the ceremonial Adding of Devices. I've already introduced several USB sticks and Blue Max to the laptop, and have only had one problem, which I'll suss out later. (God, why is "suss" not in the dictionary of spell check? Stupid. There, it's added to mine.)
The first thing I did was install Revo Uninstaller and get rid of the bells and whistles that came with the laptop. The New York Times Reader, and other such dumb things I will never use. Then I installed Chrome, and I was right, the Great Google Head saved all of my bookmarks and passwords in its giant cloudy brain. So I didn't lose any of that, but I did shed some peace of mind. I don't mind the NSA or the CIA monitoring me, what I don't like, is Google monitoring me. Heebie Jeebies.
Then I installed Semagic, so I could type this to you, while I wait for Facespace to send me the code to reset my password and lecture me on the virtues of giving my phone number to them to simplify the process. HA! I've had this phone for 5 years and I just this week started getting phishing texts. That's a long time to be left to myself. Though I rarely use the phone.
It's almost time to get Doc up.
I had such big plans for tonight. Now I'll be sitting here while programs install. I had to take a nap today, I only got 3.5 hours sleep last night. I got a 3.5 hour nap, so I'm ready to go into the night, if need be. Get this done and get the video done this weekend. If I manage to get a trailer together for it, so be it, if not, I'm not going to beat myself up over it.
Simon has another sinus infection. He's sneezing his head off. And open mouth breathing. Tomorrow, while Doc is home, we are going to wrap Simon firmly in a towel, because he goes from ragdoll to rabid hyena in .5 seconds, and use a syringe to try to get some mouthwash into his mouth. Just get some anti-bacterial stuff going on in there. There's no swelling like last time. Just the sneezing, ACK, on my neck, EW, and wanting to be with me all the time. Yipe, I have to go wake Doc up.
