one step beyond and now beyond is chasing me

i just got a voicemail from yesterday, my mom called and wished me a happy birthday. i'm on the verge of weeping. doc is seething and making lunch.

we ordered food last night after midnight, after doc got home. there's a pizza place that delivers late.

today he stayed home with me to celebrate my birthday. holidays last a week or so here.

i'm all conflicted about being 40. not breakdown conflicted, just thoughtful.

thanks for all the birthday greetings, they all made me smile.
